Laser Therapy
Imagine the surprise when researchers learned that certain light frequencies could actually reduce inflammation and enhance the healing process!
At Laser's Edge, we use Super Pulsed Lasers. Visit the Theralase website to learn more about this amazing laster, www.theralase.com.
Specific Wavelengths
There are a number of types of lasers. A Continuous lasers wave light source system, this is the same as the peak power of the light system all the time, usually of the LED family. Pulsed lasers come in two major formats: pseudo-pulse and true-pulse laser (also known as super-pulsed). The difference lies in the peak power, for a pseudo pulsed laser system the peak power is the same as the average power at 100% duty cycle. For a true-pulsed laser system; however, the peak power is often 500 times more powerful than the average power. These lasers will deliver biostimulative effects of up to 4 inches into tissue due to the added feature of select photothermolysis effects in addition to photochemical effects (biostimulation).
How Does It Work?
How can certain frequencies of light speed up or slow down biological processes? Many theories have been suggested, but from practical application with real clients, we know it works for:
- Wound healing
- Inflammation reduction
- Pain management
- Cell regeneration
- Scar tissue reduction
While scientists debate the mechanism by which low level laser works and publish their work in the scientific literature, our clients are just delighted that it works!
